This is also in line with reported clinical data: tau oligomers appear early in the brains of patients developing Alzheimer’s disease (Patterson et al., 2011; Lasagna-Reeves et al., 2012; Koss et al., 2016) and progressive supranuclear palsy (Gerson et al., 2014), possibly even before first clinical symptoms become apparent (Maeda et al., 2006). This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
