This is also in line with reported clinical data: tau oligomers appear early in the brains of patients developing Alzheimer’s disease (Patterson et al., 2011; Lasagna-Reeves et al., 2012; Koss et al., 2016) and progressive supranuclear palsy (Gerson et al., 2014), possibly even before first clinical symptoms become apparent (Maeda et al., 2006).
