Studies performed in IL‐37 transgenic (IL‐37tg) mice reveal that IL‐37 potently suppresses IL‐6, IL‐1β, and TNF‐α production in response to various TLR agonists or diseases driven by chronic inflammation including atherosclerosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and colitis (Ji et al., 2017; Liu et al., 2016; Liu et al., 2018; McNamee et al., 2011; Nold et al., 2010; Zhao et al., 2014). The gene discussed is IL37; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
