EPB41 and histoplasmosis: Here, we showed that infection with H. capsulatum yeasts induced the expression of the hsa-miR-148b-3p, hsa-miR-320b, and hsa-miR-342-3p miRNAs in the THP-1 Mø-like cells, efficiently and specifically regulating EPB41. This gene may contribute to the reorganization of the cytoskeleton, as well as to the regulation of yeast adhesion to the cell membrane and the components of the extracellular matrix, which are fundamental mechanisms in the pathogenesis of histoplasmosis.
