Activation of TAS2R14, which is highly expressed on HASM cells, causes marked relaxation of the cells and dilation of the bronchus, which appears to be of greater magnitude (29) than the only direct bronchodilators (β2-adrenergic receptor [β2AR] agonists) available for treating airway constriction in asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
