Taken together, and similar to the conclusion of Zhang et al33 our results suggest that sepsis‐induced CaMKII activation leads, at least in part, to an increase in RyR2 open probability and Ca2+ leak from the SR, which would result in mitochondrial Ca2+ overload, mPTP opening and cytochrome C release which would trigger the apoptotic cascade. This evidence concerns the gene RYR2 and Sepsis.
