Markedly elevated levels of both PAI-1 and tPA were detected in patients with COVID-19 as compared with healthy controls (mean ± standard deviation 75 ± 46 vs. 40 ± 42 ng/mL, p < 0.0001; and 78 ± 68 vs 2.4 ± 2.6 ng/mL, p < 0.0001, respectively Fig. 1a,b).
