To initially reduce the complexity of the model parameter space, we developed a subset (submodel) of the general 3-compartment model (Supplementary Fig. 1a) to describe the following in vivo conditions: (1) the host is an immune-deficient NSG mouse lacking T cells, B cells, and NK cells which would otherwise alter growth and death rates of cancer cells; (2) a known number of T-ALL cells is implanted subcutaneously in the flank of the NSG mouse at a given time; (3) the T-ALL cells can be MYC-inactivated by continued doxycycline administration via drinking water. The gene discussed is MYC; the disease is cancer.
