The obesity‐related lncRNA (lnc‐ORA), whose expression levels increases during adipogenesis in obese mice, also regulates the cell cycle through induction of expression of crucial marker genes such as PCNA, cyclin B, cyclin D1, and cyclin E.41Modulation of the cell cycle and thus early stages of adipogenesis can also occur through epigenetic modulation, and indeed the lncRNA slincRAD was found to interact with the DNA methyl transferase 1 (DNMT1) in the S phase of the cell cycle in mouse, facilitating the cell's entry into the MCE phase.42 Here, DNMT1 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
