As represented in schematic Figure 1, the stimulation of TLRs in T2DM by DAMPs and other ligands leads to the activation of the transcription nuclear factor NF-κB, which is transferred to the nucleus and cleaved to p50 and p665 to induce inflammatory response and release of inflammatory cytokines and chemokines. Here, NFKB1 is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
