NFE2L2 and atherosclerosis: Since the production of O2−, which can be regulated by Nrf2 signaling (Ashino et al., 2013), is strongly associated with the pathological process of atherosclerosis (Vendrov et al., 2007; Lazaro et al., 2018), reduction in the accumulation or concentration O2− in atherosclerotic plaques by JC-5411 gives further evidence that this compound has the potential to become an important therapy for atherosclerosis.
