Levels of vascular markers VCAM-1 and ICAM-1 were increased in serum samples of ALS patients when compared to controls (891 ± 366 ng/ml vs. 647 ± 181 ng/ml; p < 0,0001 for VCAM-1 | 750 ± 297 ng/ml vs. 485 ± 120 ng/ml; p < 0,0001 for ICAM-1). Here, VCAM1 is linked to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
