As reported in Table 1, when compared to those with viral chronic liver disease; patients with NAFLD were more likely to be overweight/obese, had a higher prevalence of diabetes and metabolic syndrome, as well as higher values of CVR scores (SCORE, Framingham risk score (FRS), Progetto CUORE), platelets, fasting glucose, fasting insulin, gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT), total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol, triglycerides, serum uric acid, and ferritin. Here, INS is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
