We chose the CamK2α (Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II linked reverse tetracycline-controlled transactivator) rtTA driver because of its validated expression in the hippocampus and cortex, brain areas that exhibit pathology in C9FTD/ALS patients (Odeh et al., 2011). The gene discussed is CAMK2A; the disease is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
