An adequate understanding of the immunologic profile of DIPG is critically important, especially given ongoing investigation into potential immunotherapeutic targets, including current clinical trials studying anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibodies (NCT03130959, NCT02359565), as well as emerging pre-clinical evidence suggesting efficacy of anti-GD2 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells in orthotopic xenograft models of this disease [2, 52]. Here, PDCD1 is linked to diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma.
