Among these, the mitochondrial import receptor subunit Tom70 (encoded by the gene TOMM70), interactor of both SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2 Orf9b, is particularly interestingly because Tom70 plays a role in turning on the activity of the Mitochondrial AntiViral Signalling (MAVS) protein, one of the molecular pathways which induces apopotosis of a cell after virus infection [73,74]. This evidence concerns the gene TOMM70 and viral infectious disease.
