In animal studies, miR-92a is associated with dyslipidemia [42] and sterol regulatory element-binding protein 2 (SREBP2), a key transcription factor involved in activation of genes in cholesterol biosynthesis, appears to also induce miR-92a [40,43] implying that an additional mechanism for miR-92a mediated CVD is through dyslipidemia. This evidence concerns the gene SREBF2 and metabolic syndrome.
