The fulminant and possibly fatal hypercytokinemia in hospitalized COVID-19 patients, presented as elevated blood plasma levels of interleukin (IL)-2, IL-7, granulocyte-colony stimulating factor, interferon-γ inducible protein 10, monocyte chemo-attractant protein 1, macrophage inflammatory protein 1-α, and Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α) (8), and IL-6 and ferritin were much more expressed among fatal COVID-19 cases (9). This evidence concerns the gene IL2 and COVID-19.
