Interestingly, a significant increase of seven transcripts (ASK7, BZR2, CSLE6, DREB3, HVA22, MOB1A, PCR2) related to brassinosteroid biosynthesis associated with the stress response were upregulated during infection on the red and green side of the RF, along with nine transcripts for ethylene biosynthesis-related to the defense response (BSMT1, MAPK3, MLO6, PDR1, PR1, PER15, TLP, UBA2a, and UGT74E2) (Fig. 5 and Supplementary Table S3).
