INS and Hyperinsulinemia: (c) To separate the effects of isolated hyperinsulinemia or hyperglycemia during the consumption of breakfast on hepatic glucose handling during a subsequent meal later in the day, Moore et al. [285] performed 4-hour euglycemic–hyperinsulinemic or hyperglycemic–euinsulinemic clamps in conscious dogs using somatostatin and tracer infusions in the morning followed by combined hyperglycemic/hyperinsulinemic clamps later in the afternoon to mimic the changes in blood glucose and insulin seen after the consumption of a meal.
