The deposition of tau neurofibrillary tangles has been reported to initiate in the medial temporal lobe and spread outwards as the disease progresses (Marks et al., 2017; Pasquini et al., 2019), and studies have shown that Aβ has increased deposition in the left medial temporal lobe during early Alzheimer’s disease (Frings et al., 2015).
