Gu and colleagues found that rituximab resistance in cell lines of lymphoma (110, 111) was associated to the impaired glucose metabolism, due to overexpression of HK2, which interacts with the protein of the mitochondrial outer membrane VDAC (voltage-dependent anion channel), to repress the mitochondrial membrane potential and increase the mitochondrial apoptosis threshold (112). This evidence concerns the gene HK2 and lymphoma.
