In LNCaP and DU145 cells, the tRF-315 inhibitor induced phosphorylation of eIF2α (1.6 ± 0.1-fold increase in LNCaP cells and 1.7 ± 0.1-fold increase in DU145 cells at 40 nM), suggesting that inhibition of tRF-315 in itself can lead to cellular stress, which leads to activation of the apoptotic pathway in prostate cancer cells (Figure 4F). This evidence concerns the gene EIF2A and prostate cancer.
