MCAM/CD146 (also known as Mel-CAM, Muc18, S-endo1, Gicerin) is an adhesion receptor overexpressed in various cancer types, including breast cancer, where it was shown to promote invasion and tumor progression (Garcia et al., 2007; Zeng et al., 2011; Zeng et al., 2012). This evidence concerns the gene MCAM and breast carcinoma.
