In colorectal tumor cells, GAS1 can inhibit EMT by activating adenosine 5′-monophosphate (AMP)-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and inhibiting the mechanistic target of rapamycin kinase (mTOR) pathway; however, consistent with this paper, GAS1, as a tumor suppressor gene, is usually under-expressed in colorectal cancer, promoting metastasis of tumor cells and relating to recurrence of stages II and III colorectal cancer [78, 79]. This evidence concerns the gene GAS1 and colorectal neoplasm.
