Since overexpression of AXL is known as an important driver of drug resistance to targeted therapies, immunotherapies, and chemotherapy in various animal models [19,20,21] and has been shown to modulate patients resistant to erlotinib in lung cancer patients [22], we investigated whether AXL overexpression is involved in the TKI resistance associated with acquired EGFR C797S. The gene discussed is AXL; the disease is lung cancer.
