On the basis of evidence pointing out that there is a bidirectional communication between the vasculature and bone conveyed by cellular, endocrine, and metabolic messengers critical in the maintenance of bone health and vasculature health [11], we set out to examine the effect of GRP on the osteoclastogenesis of bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMMs) and to characterize in detail its role in periodontitis. The gene discussed is GRP; the disease is periodontitis.
