Given the role of emerin and emerin–prelamin A interplay in muscle physiology and pathology (Capanni et al., 2008, 2009; Squarzoni et al., 2005), deeper understanding of emerin fate in HGPS skeletal muscle might provide new insights not only into HGPS pathogenesis, but also on aging‐associated muscle disorders as sarcopenia. This evidence concerns the gene EMD and muscular disease.
