DKK3 and acute kidney injury: Thus, Schunk et al. (2019) concluded that high level of urinary DKK3 was associated with great risk of AKI, preoperative urinary DKK3 not only predicted the risk of AKI and decrease of eGFR at hospital discharge, elevated baseline urinary DKK3 was also associated with a significant decrease in eGFR and an increased risk of a significant decrease in eGFR during long-term follow-up in the study, and urinary DKK3 might be a novel tool to identify patients who might benefit from specific preventive strategies.
