This is in line with the results of our study, demonstrating decreased indices of insulin sensitivity in mothers with moderate hypertriglyceridemia even at early pregnancy, although we found that the association between increased triglycerides and impaired insulin action was independent of BMI, suggesting an association between maternal triglycerides and glucose metabolism which is independent of overweight or obesity status. Here, INS is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
