The SYNE1 gene was identified among the top ten risk loci in the most recent and largest genome-wide association study for the identification of genes conferring risk for the five major psychiatric disorders: major depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder (BD), autism and ADHD (Cross-Disorder Group of the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium, 2013). The gene discussed is SYNE1; the disease is attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder.
