Beside age, significant risk factors for pancreatic cancer are heavy drinking, smoking, obesity diabetes mellitus, dietary factors, physical inactivity and non-O blood group as well as positive family history and genetics (e.g., Lynch syndrome, familial adenomatous polyposis, familial atypical multiple mole melanoma syndrome, Peutz–Jeghers syndrome, Li Fraumeni syndrome, hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome, mutation in genes coding for BRCA2, PRSS1, ATM, K-Ras, STK11, PRSS1/PRSS2, SMAD4, CDKN2A, and p53) [2,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12].
