The herein presented data are consistent with literature covering genetic associations of the inflammasome and IL-18 to asthma and further advances our understanding of the role of NLRP1 in this chronic disease.10, 11, 12,22,51,52 One limitation of our approach was to interrogate NLRP1 haplotypes that were previously established in vitiligo and other autoimmune disorders,45 so we may not have captured haplotype effects that were specific to asthma. Here, IL18 is linked to autoimmune disease.
