Morphological and compositional changes typical of aneurysm formation have been widely characterized (Davies, 1998, Michel et al., 2011, Nordon et al., 2011), therefore a good model for aneurysm studies should display such characteristics, which includes vessel dilatation, medial thinning, elastin degradation, and loss of vascular smooth muscle cells. This evidence concerns the gene ELN and aneurysm.
