INS and Hypertension: The adverse effects of intravenous glucocorticoid therapy that have been reported in the literature include: hypertension; hyperglycemias (requiring insulin in patients without previous carbohydrate metabolism disorders, as well as deterioration of glycemic control in patients with previously diagnosed diabetes); arrhythmias (it is worth noting that slow intravenous infusion of GCs reduces the risk of arrhythmia); acute coronary syndromes; cerebral venous thrombosis; acute liver injury; psychoses and infections.
