ACE2 and lung disorder: Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), a substrate of ADAM17 [197,198], plays an emerging role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular and lung diseases through changing the composition of the intestinal microbiota, such as increasing the ratio of the Firmicutes to Bacteroidetes and decreasing the Bifidobacterium genus, which raises the potential relation of ADAM17-mediated ACE2 shedding and intestinal dysbiosis [199,200,201].
