Among the well-known RTKs, members of the ERbB receptor tyrosine kinase family, including epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR; HER1/erbB-1), human EGFR-related receptor 2 (HER2; erbB-2/neu), HER3 (erbB-3), and HER4 (erbB-4), represent a promising strategy for targeted therapy in patients with NSCLC due to observed patterns of oncogenic mutations of EGFR and HER2 [4]. This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
