IDH2 and acute myeloid leukemia: The 2-HG oncometabolite found in IDH1 and IDH2 mutations in AML patients, facilitates leukaemic transformation by increasing ROS, and thus IDH1 and 2 inhibitors can be seen as a promising strategy against AML and they can counteract the ROS effects which increase in patients with low expression levels of GPX3 (Fujii et al., 2016).
