Overexpression of the caspase-3, -8, and -9 genes in the current study as well as the extensive expression of caspase-3 protein, as confirmed by the caspase-3 assay, demonstrates that myricetin exerts its apoptotic effect on MCF-7 breast cancer cells by evoking both intrinsic and extrinsic pathways. The gene discussed is CASP3; the disease is breast cancer.
