Although the expression profile of macrophages (AM and PIM) from infected animals suggested apoptosis, moDC and cDC2 profiles presented a general down-regulation of apoptosis promoters, such as DNASE1L3 (which promotes DNA breakdown during apoptosis) and PDCD4 (promoter of apoptosis and autophagy) upon infection. The gene discussed is PDCD4; the disease is infection.
