There may be translational avenues that point to using haptoglobin as a treatment for hemorrhagic stroke; work by Zhao et al. (2009) showed that sulforaphane upregulates haptoglobin expression and Hugelshofer et al. (2019) showed that direct injection of haptoglobin into the CSF reduced vasospasm and the diffusion of hemoglobin into the brain parenchyma from the CSF in sheep. This evidence concerns the gene HP and hemorrhagic stroke.
