However, astrocyte-specific genetic ablation and pharmacological inhibition of PDK2 by AZD7545 and lactate dehydrogenase (a glycolytic enzyme) by oxamate or GSK2837808A were found to ameliorate the diabetes-induced hypothalamic inflammation and the subsequent metabolic syndrome, suggesting that PDK2 in hypothalamic astrocytes can be a potential therapeutic target for neuroinflammation and associated metabolic disorders.
