The genetic alterations in these receptor genes have been shown to contribute to neuropsychiatric disorders, including GABAergic receptors Gabrg2 (epilepsy), Gabra2 (alcohol dependence), and Gabrg3 (developmental delay, ASD, and Prader-Willi/Angelman syndrome; Braat and Kooy, 2015), muscarinic acetylcholine receptor Chrm3 (ASD; Petersen et al., 2013), and metabotropic glutamate receptor Grm7 (ASD; Noroozi et al., 2016).
