In contrast, the nonclassical RAS, composed mainly by the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2)/angiotensin-(1-7) (Ang-(1-7))/Mas receptor (MasR)/angiotensin receptor 2 (AT2R) pathway, improves the cardiac function of hearts subjected to myocardial infarction (MI) and has a beneficial role in insulin resistance, hypertriglyceridemia, fatty liver disease, and obesity [1–4]. The gene discussed is ACE2; the disease is fatty liver disease.
