TKT and neoplasm: T/D@RSMSNs released doxorubicin and α-TOS and induced an increase in intracellular ROS concentration in human breast cancer (MCF-7) cells, triggering the cleavage of the thioketal linker TK linkage for further doxorubicin release, both in tumoral MCF-7 cells in vitro studies and in BALB/c nude mice tumor xenograft models, decreasing tumor weight and volume, compared with others similar nanosystems based on ROS-responsive strategies.
