Targeted agents such as sorafenib, a small-molecule multityrosine kinase inhibitor, have been employed in the treatment of advanced HCC [17,43,44], and more recently, the administration of atezolizumab, a checkpoint inhibitor, in combination with an anti-VEGF antibody (bevacizumab) showed promising results [13].
