This activity is mediated by the ACE2/Ang-(1–7)/Mas receptor axis, through which the regulation of angiotensin and Ang-(1–7) and nitric oxide (NO) availability control blood pressure alterations, which cause damages to vascular tissue as atherosclerosis, hypertrophy and more in general, endothelial alterations (17). Here, ACE2 is linked to atherosclerosis.
