SOX10 and melanoma: Kaufman et al. (2016) investigated the zebrafish melanoma model and found the NC progenitor (NCP) transcription factors, including SOX10, can regulate the expression of crestin. Notably, NCP gene activation can lead to the occurrence of melanoma. Compared with the control group, overexpress of SOX10 in melanocytes significantly accelerated the incidence of melanoma, emphasizing the promoting effect of SOX10 in melanoma formation (Kaufman et al., 2016).
