Various studies have demonstrated that nesfatin-1 is closely related to diabetes mellitus (DM), during which the incidence of heterotopic tendon ossification is significantly higher than that in non-DM subjects of the same age (Aydeniz et al., 2008; Li et al., 2010; de Oliveira et al., 2011; Aslan et al., 2012). This evidence concerns the gene NUCB2 and diabetes mellitus.
