HLA-B and multiple sclerosis: Previous studies have shown that the two-loci haplotype HLA-B*14:02, C*08:02 is associated with hypersensitivity reactions to non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (in particular nevirapine) which are used in the treatment of HIV (56), while HLA-A*30:02 is part of an extended haplotype commonly found in Sardinia (HLA-A*30:02, B*18:01, C*05:01, DRB1*03:01) that is associated with autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis and autoimmune type I hepatitis (37, 57).
