Extensive ROS is generated from Hp at the tumor sites under tumor-specific light irradiation, thereby rapidly dissociating the micelles and selectively releasing the Dox as a consequence of the ROS-mediated cleavage of the hydrophobic BE moieties on the polymers; this results in synergistic anti-cancer effects of the Dox-mediated chemotherapy and the Hp-mediated PDT. Here, HP is linked to neoplasm.
